Grammy Awards 2011 Beauty Trends

We often wonder if glam squads across the country converge prior to awards season and vote on the makeup trends they would like to see emerge, because most everyone who is anyone seems to be on the same page (except for Lady GaGa but we can’t all cross the red carpet in a giant egg). Cat-eye makeup, berry-tinged lips and lids dressed in purple hues were common among this year’s music-friendly crowd.

Cat-Eye Liner
From smoky to sleek, cat-eye makeup was popular among the red carpet darlings. Dianna Agron looked sultry with her take on the trend — her lids painted in smoky grays and black with a thick wing at the outer corners of her eyes. Miley Cyrus’ winged eyeliner was a bit thinner, and she paired the bold look with a pale pink pout. Reality star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi got in on the action as well, but upped the ante with some seriously long lashes to open up her eyes.

Berry Lips
Forgoing the ever popular nude lip or even the super trendy pink pout, many ladies were bringing the bright lip back in a variety of berry shades. Lea Michele looked ultra-glam with her glossy, deep hue that she paired with minimal eye makeup. Going for a retro look with a 1920s style ‘do, singer Natasha Bedingfield went with a more matte take on the berry lip. Selena Gomez hopped aboard the trend by opting for a slightly lighter shade to tint her pretty pucker so that she could still add a bit of smokiness to her eyes for a balanced makeup look.

Purple Lids
The lips weren’t the only area where celebs added a bit of brightness, varying shades of purple graced many famous lids. Katy Perry looked like a pretty princess with violet shadow and massively lengthy lashes. To complement her girly lavender dress, Kelly Osborne swiped her lids with a pale lilac shade. Risk-taker Rihanna shaded her eyes with a gradient of shadows ranging from a deep to paler purples to pop off of her berry-stained lips.

Did You Know?

Did you know… that routine facials and microdermabrasion treatments can help minimize the appearance of enlarged pores? Pores release oil that keeps skin soft, hydrated and healthy; however, you don’t want to be reminded of their existence every time you look in the mirror. Pores look more prominent when they are dilated, infected or clogged with oil.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to permanently shrink large pores. However, the good news is that there are a number of ways to greatly reduce their appearance. For example, cleansing the pores of debris, blackheads, excess oil and bacteria by using a low-strength topical medication or face wash containing Retinol or Vitamin C. These antioxidants increase collagen and elastin production, while simultaneously loosening dirt and oil from the pores.

Microdermabrasion treatments will also help minimize the appearance of large pores. Microdermabrasion is a special type of facial that gently scrubs off the dead surface layer of the skin, revealing softer and healthier skin. Scheduling routine facials and microdermabrasion treatments will help you reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, giving you a more beautiful and youthful skin.

Did You Know – Facts on Taking Care of Your Eyes

DID YOU KNOW… The skin around the eyes is ten times thinner than the skin on the face. As we age, skin loses its elasticity and becomes even thinner due to a breakdown of collagen. This can be further aggravated by sun exposure, smoking, diet and other environmental exposures. The skin of the eye contour is constantly moving. Blinking alone produces 10,000 movements per day.

Caring for the skin around the eyes is a delicate process. Because it is thinner, it not only tends to be the first place to show signs of aging, but also is more sensitive than the rest of the skin; therefore, extra care needs to be taken when choosing a skincare product for this area.
